ooops, now it get's interesting Smile well I don't know exactly, why people say, that Nana is Ann - this an information of a journalist who worked together with Hans in 1985. And he told us, that for him it is very funny to see Ann with a new name and as a lawyer. He sent a photo of Nana and told us: that is Ann Smile

Have you heard, that he has a brother ? Werner Bernecker ?

Otto and others, I will try to answer some of your questions....

I have never heard of Werner Bernecker. So that would mean that he is a friend, perhaps a newly adopted brother or another alias.

Hans's father was Werner Jany. He was 15 or 20 years older than Hans' mother and had been married priviously. He had 2 sons by his first marriage, making them half-brothers to Hans. They were perhaps 5 to 7 years older than Hans, and considered part of the Jany family in Hanover. Thier names are Wolfgang Jany and Ecky (Eckert) Jany.

His mother was Anita Maria Jany. Hans has one full sister, some 3 years younger than him, named Verena Jany. I assume she is married by now.

Re education. I am obviously in the U.S. While here Hans graduated from a US high School, a US college and got an MBA here also. I do not know anything about his legal education. Considering the number of countries he has lived in, there are multiple possibilities. Also the word "attorney" translates differently in the 6 to 7 different languages involved. Also there are many different kinds of Counselors, legal, business, cultural etc etc. Certainly by now, he is a real expert on International Business Law.

Re the aliases. I remember vague references to an allias he used in High School, but it was only a fun thing. I don't believe he ever did this to deceive anyone. It was just for fun. When I knew him, he was very fun loving, very entertaining to be around, and endlessly interesting.

It appears that through his historical research, he found a connection between the Jany family and Sachsen-Altenburg. I havent read his books, but if I were to look into this, I would read the one about Paul Dukes first. He has written several books on German explorers in the early US.

His first wife, Ann Taylor is American. She is a very nice girl from Plano Texas. His second wife Nana, is from The Republic of Georgia. She is a former movie star and there are many web sites and fan clubs that can be found on the internet.

I hope this helps.

Well, it slowly gets interesting here.
Hans Jany has indicated that even a half-sister. She is the illegitimate daughter of Georg Moritz von Sachsen-Altenburg. So he did know some time ago in wikipedia. But this has been deleted by the administrator.
Anita Jany is also known as Anita von Battaszek.
Between Ann (Perry) and the second wife and there is obviously no difference. Ann must have changed her name. Also, there was a few years ago a report in "Caucasian Post".
The European Court of Human Rights, it does not confirm that there are a lawyer, called Sachsen-Altenburg.
Remains to ask why is Hans Jany, when Hans von Sachsen-Altenburg.
because someone has a photo of Hans Jany? That would be interesting.

@ Otto: interesting point:
Hans Jany has indicated that even a half-sister. She is the illegitimate daughter of Georg Moritz von Sachsen-Altenburg.

But this seems to be very far off - but even if this would be true, it's no reason for Hans to become a "true" Sachsen-Altenburg.

So he did know some time ago in wikipedia. But this has been deleted by the administrator.
Anita Jany is also known as Anita von Battaszek.

Changing their names - seems to run in this family Smile

Between Ann (Perry) and the second wife and there is obviously no difference. Ann must have changed her name. Also, there was a few years ago a report in "Caucasian Post".

That ist something I heard too. Just read all these articles about this georgian TV Company. It's incredible.

The European Court of Human Rights, it does not confirm that there are a lawyer, called Sachsen-Altenburg.

That is true - you can't find him as a lawyer. I think, he isn't even a lawyer. And as Susan wrote, as a attorney you can be everything and nothing...

Remains to ask why is Hans Jany, when Hans von Sachsen-Altenburg.

Well, if you have been finally convicted for 1 year and 4 months and a fine of 100000 DM you'd better change your name...

because someone has a photo of Hans Jany? That would be interesting.

Yeah - would be interesting, if these photos show the same person that has been shown in this article of the German newspaper "Mirror".

Re Scottiscan titles - I understand that most are bogus. You can purchase them on-line, many titles to choose from, very popular and affordable. Make good Christmas presents for loved ones.

Hans was born in October 1952, so he is 58 now. The playing card thing ended in the late 1980's. He was about 35 then. The problem is that he lived as Hans Jany for 35 years, in both Germany and the US. As you can image, this unforgettable character was very outgong, social and at many times a public figure. Most people who have known him, would instantly recognize him and be thrilled to see him again. This makes the question of a change in identity (by any name) a difficult one. And in the end, I think his popularity and mystery out weighs concerns about factual matters in the minds of most of his friends and admirers.

Yes, yes, in the inscrutable things is always something like admiration.
Also I admire very Hans. Just a pity that there are so many things I can not explain. I've known him since 1990, than he was Hans Jany. But what has really driven him to change his name? My friend Uli Kaiser wondered why. I would be happy, I could even view the pictures, of which TurnerChefs reported. Otherwise you will indeed by Hans any more images. Oh yes, when exactly did he actually birthday? I would like to write him an email. But not even his email address I have more. Also he has changed so often ...
