Just prior to the passing of my great Grandmother, Katie Knox, I was provided with some very interesting family documents. One of which tells a story of two familys, Knox and McDowell.
One document states that the two families were feuding with another part of their same families. They were then forced from Scottland to Cavan Ireland where they resided for 3 generations before immagrating to Canada. Before leaving for Canada several of the Knox brothers married McDowell sisters and then moved all at once to Canada thinking that this would once again make them strong.
My Grandmother, stated that she was Scottish and English, yet I can only trace her family back to Cavan Ireland. The latest Knox I have is James, b. Abt 1775 - Married to Rachell McDowell in Cavan Ireland. The latest McDowell I have is William John married to Ann Jane Ferguson in the early 1700's.
I am looking for the right connection that ties into the peerage site.
Can anyone offer any suggestions ? |
