The Marquess of Blandford, heir to the 11th Duke, married 1stly, 1990 (div 2001), Rebecca Mary Few Brown, dau of Peter Few Brown, by his former wife Elizabeth Linda Milling, daughter of Geoffrey Milling, of Brading, Isle of Wight. After divorcing Mr Few Brown - Elizabeth married 2ndly, in 1973, (Edward) John Winnington-Ingram, (b. 1926), of Old Manor Farm, Cottisford, Brackley, Northants, descended from the Winnington Baronets (created 1755).
The marriage took place, 1 March, 2002, at Woodstock Register Office, between (Charles) James Spencer-Churchill, styled Marquess of Blandford, 46, elder son & heir of the 11th Duke of Marlborough, of Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire, and his first wife Mrs John Gough, and Miss Edla Griffiths, 33, daughter of Mr Alun Griffiths and his wife, Pauline.
Alexander Pepys Muir, (b. 1954), son of the late Robin Muir, and Lady Rosemary Mildred Muir (nee Spencer-Churchill), and a grandson of the late 10th Duke of Marlborough, married, 27 July, 1999, Mrs Mark Faber, daughter of Mr Christopher Griffith and Mrs Gordon Rennie.
Lady Sarah Consuelo Spencer-Churchill, daughter of the 10th Duke of Marlborough, died in Connecticut, USA, 13 October, 2000.
Edwin F. Russell, who died at Florida, United States, 23 December, 2001, was the first husband of the late Lady Sarah Consuelo Spencer-Churchill, daughter of the 10th Duke of Marlborough. They married in 1943, and divorced in 1966, having produced four daughters.
The engagement was announced, 24 May, 2002, between Peter, younger son of Sir Brian and Lady Hill, of Kingswood, Surrey, and Harriet Valentine, (b. 1967), eldest daughter of Mr & Mrs (Rio Tyrell) Arthur Hohler, of Gambais, France. Peter Hill's father, Sir Brian, (knighted in 1989) was President of Higgs & Hill, 1993-7, &c, and the bride-to-be is descended from the landed family of Hohler (paternally), and from the Dukes of Marlborough (maternally). Harriet's mother was the former Clare
Rosemary Spencer Bernard, descended from the 3rd Duke of Marlborough.
The marriage took place, 1 May, 2003, between Mr Robert Vere Spencer Bernard, (b. 1944), of Nether Winchendon, Buckinghamshire, scion of the Dukes of Marlborough, and Mrs Georgianna Sarah Preston, née Tomkins, of Apethorpe, Northamptonshire. It is Mr Robert Spencer Bernard's second marriage. In 1975 he marrried Katharine Margaret Montagu Douglas Scott, of the Dukes of Buccleuch & Queensberry.
Sir Winston Churchill's nephew, Henry Winston Peregrine Spencer-Churchill, known in the family as "Prebbin", died 19 March, 2002, aged 88. He was the second son of John Spencer-Churchill, (1880-1947), and his wife, Lady Gwendeline (Goonie) Bertie, (d. 1941), a daughter of the 7th Earl of Abingdon. Peregrine was a grandson of Lord Randolph Churchill and a great-grandson of the 7th Duke of Marlborough. Married twice, he was childless. He is surviving sibling Clarissa, is Countess of Avon, widow of the Conservative Prime Minister Sir Antony Eden, 1st Earl of Avon, (who d. 1977).
Catherine Churchill (nee Lancaster), wife of Randolph Leonard Spencer Churchill (b. 22 January, 1965), a great-grandson of Sir Winston Churchill, KG, PC, OM, CH, TD, DL & scion of the Dukes of Marlborough, gave birth to a daughter, Alice Spencer, 28 April, 2003, a sister for Serena (b. 12 May, 1996), and Zoe (b. 29 October, 1998). The Churchills married at Westerham, Kent, 21 March, 1992.
The engagement was announced 7 June, 2004, between John Gerard Averell (Jack) Spencer Churchill (b. 1975), younger son of Mr Winston Spencer Churchill, of Belgravia, London, scion of the Dukes of Marlborough, and his first wife, Mrs Minnie Churchill (nee d'Erlanger), of
Lyme Regis, Dorset, and Charlotte M. Baber, elder daughter of Mr Robert Baber, of Evercreech, Somerset, and Mrs Iona Baber, of Downside, Somerset. Jack Churchill is a great-grandson of the Rt Hon Sir Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill, KG, OM, CH, TD.
Sir Francis Winnington, 6th Baronet, late the Welsh Guards, landowner,
of Stanford Court, Worcester, died 26 April, 2003. He was 95. A baronet for over 70 years, he was a kinsman of Sir Winston Churchill. Francis Salwey William "Billy" Winnington was born 24 June, 1907, the elder son of Lieut. Francis Salwey Winnington, Coldstream Guards, (1881-1913) by his wife Blanche Emma Carsberd-Boteler, & was educated at Eton. He succeeded to the baronetcy on the death of his grandfather, Sir Francis Winnington, 5th Baronet, on 4 March, 1931. The 5th Baronet had married, in 1879, Jane, daughter of Lord Alfred Spencer Churchill, and a granddaughter of the 6th Duke of Marlborough. His ancestor, Sir Edward, the 1st Baronet, had been MP for Bewdley, Worcestershire, and was created a baronet in 1755. The 6th Baronet served in the Second World War with the Welsh Guards, and was mentioned in despatches, wounded and taken prisoner. He married 22 April, 1944, Anne Beryl Jane, only daughter of Capt Lawrence Robert Charles Drury-Lowe, Scots Guards, by whom he had one child, a daughter, Charmian. Sir Francis is survived by Lady Winnington and their daughter. The baronetcy now passes to a nephew, Anthony Edward Winnington, born 13 May, 1948.

The marriage took place 16 Oct, 1993, at the Church of St Mary the Virgin, Westerham, Kent (source: Times wedding announcement 18 Oct, 1993) of Mr James Repard, yr son of Mr & Mrs Hugo Repard, of Westerton, Sussex, & Miss Jennie Churchill, elder dau of Mr Winston Churchill, MP, of the Dukes of Marlborough, and Mrs Churchill, of Westerham. They have 2 children, George (b. 2 August, 1994/Daily Telegraph birth announcement 4 Aug, 1994) & Arabella Repard, (b. 14 August, 1996/ Daily Telegraph birth announcement, 16 Aug, 1996).
The engagement was announced 9 Dec, 1999, between Marina Churchill, (b. 11 Sept, 1967), dau of Winston Spencer-Churchill & his first wife Mary (known as Minnie, nee d'Erlanger), and David W. J. Brounger, son of Mr Ian Brounger, of South Newington, Oxfordshire.
The couple have a son, Henry Brounger, born prior to the marriage, in 1998.
An announcement in the Daily Telegraph read: *BROUNGER.- On 9th February, 2003, to Marina [nee Churchill] and David, a daughter, Olivia Clementine, a sister for Henry and William.*

The engagement was announced in September, 2006, between David W. Pite, son of Mr and Mrs John James Pite, and Lucy Diana Sandys (b. 1971), daughter of the late Hon Julian George Winston Sandys, QC and of Elisabeth Sandys (nee Martin).
Miss Sandys is a granddaughter paternally of the late life peer Baron Duncan-Sandys (ext. 1987), by his wife the former Diana Spencer-Churchill, daughter of the Rt Hon Sir Winston Leonard Spencer-Churchill, KG, OM, CH, TD, &c.... _________________ Michael Rhodes |

(Charles) James Spencer-Churchill, styled Marquess of Blandford (b. 24 Nov, 1955), son & heir of the 11th Duke of Marlborough (b. 13 Apr 1926), of Blenheim Palace, Woodstock, by his 1st wife, Susan Mary Hornby (b. 19 Oct 1929; d. 27 Jan 2005). and his 2nd wife, the former Edla Griffiths, dau of Mr Alun Griffiths and his wife, Pauline, are expecting their first child together in the spring of 2007. (Lady Blandford is four months pregnant, according to the Daily Mail) .
Lord Blandford has a son from a former marriage, George John G. Spencer-Churchill, styled Earl of Sunderland, b. Oxford, 28 July, 1992.

The Churchills married at Westerham, Kent, 21 March, 1992.
A chain has been broken. The name of the eldest Churchill son in this line has alternated between Randolph and Winston since the birth of Lord Randolph Churchill, 13 Feb 1849.

Edla Spencer-Churchill, styled Marchioness of Blandford, 2nd wife, since 2002, of (Charles) James Spencer-Churchill, styled Marquess of Blandford (b 24 Nov 1955), gave birth to a daughter, the Lady Araminta Clementine Megan Spencer-Churchill, shortly before 8 Apr, 2007. The Marquess is the elder son & heir of the 11th Duke of Marlborough (b 13 Apr 1926), of Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire, by his first late wife, the former Susan Hornby (b 19 Oct 1929, d 27 Jan 2005) (later wife of (ii) Alan Heber-Percy (b 1935), scion of the Dukes of Northumberland, & (iii) Mr John Osborne Gough, MBE (b 1932)). The Marchioness of Blandford (b c. 1968), is the daughter of Mr Alun Griffiths and his wife, Pauline.

(Charles) Huguenot (Hugo) Waterhouse, b 11 JUne, 1918, scion of that
LG family, who m 5 Dec 1946, the Lady Caroline Spencer-Churchill
(1923-92), dau of the 10th Duke of Marlborough by his 1st wife; died
at Rievaulx, North Yorkkshire, 15 July 2007. The funeral is at All

Julian George Winston, 10 April, 2008.
Duncan Sandys is the eldest son of the late Hon. Julian George
Winston Sandys, QC, and of Elisabeth Sandys (nee Martin), of London,
and Mary is the elder daughter of Mrs Patricia Brewer, of
Macon, Georgia, USA.

Looking on the site entries for the Duke you add Prince John of Mellenburg which as far as I can tell has no obvious evidential support. The best you seem to get is ...'some sources suggest' style comments but not real proof. Can you really justify the inclusion? |

Katharine Margaret Spencer Bernard (née Montagu Douglas Scott), who
died 1 November, 2008, was a scion of the Dukes of Bucceluch &
Queensberry (Duke, S., 1663; Duke S, 1684), and was married to a scion
of the Dukes of Marlborough (Duke, England 1702.) She was b in 1946, a
dau of Claud Everard Walter Montagu-Douglas-Scott, a grandson of the
6th Duke of Buccleuch, by his wife the former Margaret Francis
Phillips (she d 17-3-2000); married 1975, Robert Vere Spencer Bernard
(b 1944). Funeral on Thursday 13 Nov at St Nicholas' Church, Nether
Winchendon.

Prince of Mellenburg.
Both Burke's Peerage and Cokayne's Complete Peerage show that the 1st Duke of Marlborough received the title Prince of the Holy Roman Empire on 28 Aug 1704, with the right to this title, with all of his descendants of either sex to be Princes also.
He then received the Principality of of Mindleheim on 18 Nov 1705, which was exchanged for the Principality o Mellenburg in 1713.
However, neither Burkes nor Cokayne show these titles in any subsequent generations, so I will delete them for now. |
