Lieutenant-Colonel Sir Geoffrey Walter Fownes Luttrell, KCVO (1993), MC (1945), JP, who died 3 April, 2007, aged 87, was Lord Lieutenant of Somerset, 1978-94, and head of the LG family of Luttrell of Dunster. He was b 2 October, 1919, son of Geoffrey Fownes Luttrell, DL, JP (1887-1957), of Dunster Castle, Somerset, High Sheriff of Somerset (1935), by his wife Alys Anne Wilson Bridges, DStJ, dau of Rear-Admiral Walter Bogue Bridges, of Trewalla, Victoria, Australia. He was educated at Eton & Exeter College, Oxford.
Career:-> served in WW2 with the 15/19 King's Royal Hussars, 1940-46, and with North Somerset Yeomanry, 1947-52. High Sheiff of Somerset 1960; JP (1961), deputy lieutenant for Somerset (1958), Vice Lord Lieutenant for Somerset 1968-78.
He married 23 Dec 1942, Hermione Hamilton, elder dau of Capt Cecil Bernard Gunston, MC, Coldstream Guards, scion of the Gunston Baronets, b his wife Lady Doris Gwendoline Hamilton-Temple-Blackwood, eldest dau of the 2nd Marquess of Dufferin & Ava. No issue.
He has a yr brother, Julian, b 7 Dec 1932.

Lady Luttrell, who died 9 March, 2009, was the widow of Colonel Sir
Walter Luttrell, KCVO, head of that LG family, of Dunster Castle, who
died in 2007, aged 87. Her husband was awarded an MC in 1945 for his
part in the advance into Germany; he was also the last private owner
of Dunster Castle, Somerset, which had been in his family's hands for
600 years.

Lady Luttrell was the former Hermione Hamilton Gunston, scion of the
Gunston Baronets, dau of Capt Cecil Gunston, MC, elder brother of Sir
Derrick Gunston, 1st Baronet. Her mother was Lady Doris Hamilton-
Temple-Blackwood, dau of the 2nd Marquess of Dufferin & Ava.

The engagement was announced 9 March, 2012 between Marcus John Yorke-Long (b 1983), son of Jonathan C. Yorke-Long (b 1951), by his wife the former Charlotte Rose Luttrell (b 2 Nov 1954), & (Catherine) Aalish Maddrell (b 1983), daughter of David Maddrell (b 1950), of the Isle of Man, by his wife the former Marie Eckersley.

Marcus Yorke-Long is a grandson maternally of John Henry Fownes Luttrell (1919-91), of that landed family, by his wife the former Eleanor Sarah Joy Williams (1927-96), scion of the Williams of Brideshead Baronets.
