Death 1 Nov, 1991, at Blenheim, New Zealand, of Simon Scrope, aged 81. Simon was b. 21 Aug, 1910, fourth son of Henry Aloysius Scrope, of Danby (1862-1950) by his wife Maria Mercedes, dau of Alexander de Laski, by his wife, Joaquina, nee Marquesa de Souza Liboa (she d. 8 Apl, 1963, aged 90). Simon married 10 June, 1939, Constance Mary, only child of Everard Aloysius Weld, of Flaxbourne, New Zealand, (scion of the Weld landed gentry family), and was father of two daughters, Cicily Constance, b. 14 Nov, 1940, and Christina Beatrice, b. 25 Oct, 1942.

Sarah Patricia Scrope (b. 1968), wife since 1993 of Adrian Richard Scrope (b. 8 Aug 1949), gave birth to a daughter, Rose Edith Lygon, 7 Nov, 1994. Sarah is the elder dau of Gerald John Ward, CBE (B. 1938) scion of the Earls of Dudley, by his 1st wife Rosalind Elizabeth Lygon, of the extinct Earls Beauchamp. Adrian Scrope is a descendant of the Sykes of Sledmere Baronets.

The engagement was announced, 10 May, 2000, between Christopher Richard Adrian [Kester] Scrope, [b, 1970], son of Mr & Mrs John Scrope, of the ancient dynasty of that name, and Marianne, daughter of the late Marcus McCausland and Mrs Peter Welsh. Kester's grandmother was Everilda Sykes, of the Sykes of Sledmere Baronets.

The engagement was announced, 10 May, 2000, between, Thomas Oscar
Scrope, [b. 1972], second son of Mr & Mrs John Scrope, and younger brother of Kester, and Valentina Jane, twin daughter of Mr & Mrs David
Barnfather.

Sally Scrope, died 9 July, 2000, in Norfolk.

The marriage took place, 23 September, 2000, between Mr C.R.A. (Kester) Scrope, and Marianne, daughter of the late Marcus McCausland and Mrs Peter Welsh.

Ethel Scrope, who died 22 February, 2002, aged 90, was the widow of Lt-Col Conyers Stephen Scrope, MC, (1913-93). She was the former Ethel Lindberg, daughter of Kapten R.E.G. Lindberg, of Stockholm, Sweden, and married firstly, 1934, Major-General Cyril Henry Norton, CB, CBE, DSO, by whom she had two children. In 1987, then a widow, she married as her second husband, Lt-Col Conyers Scrope, scion of the surviving male line of one of the most illustrious families in Medieval, Tudor and early Stuart England. Lt-Col Scrope's first wife had been Lady Mary Egerton, third daughter of the 4th Earl of Ellesmere and sister of the 6th Duke of Sutherland. Lady Mary had died in 1983, leaving three daughters. Conyers Scrope died 22 February, 1993.

Marianne Scrope [nee McCausland] wife of Christopher Richard Adrian [Kester] Scrope, [b, 1970], gave birth to a son, Thomas Marcus John, 30 June, 2004. Kester Scrope is the son of Mr & Mrs John Scrope, of the ancient landed dynasty of that name, and Marianne is the daughter of the late Marcus McCausland and Mrs Peter Welsh. Kester's grandmother was
Everilda Sykes, of the Sykes of Sledmere Baronets. Marianne Scrope is [I think] daughter of Marcus Edgcumbe McCausland (b. 1933; d. before 1980), who was son of Lt-Col Conolly McCausland, MC, DL, JP, by his wife Lady Margaret Louisa Edgcumbe (b. 1912), daughter of the 6th Earl Mount Edgcumbe.

Valentina Jane Scrope (nee Barnfather), wife of Thomas Oscar Scrope, [b. 1972], scion of that ancient family, gave birth to a daughter, Elizabeth Blythe, 14 August, 2004. Thomas (Tom) Scrope is the second son of John Frederick Scrope (b. 1932), and Mrs Scrope, and a grandson of Lt-Col Adrian Cuthbert Scrope, OBE, The Green Howards, by his wife, Everilda Sykes, second daughter of Sir Mark Sykes, 6th Baronet (1879-1919), of Sledmere. Tom's great-great-grandfather, Sir Tatton Sykes, 5th Baronet (1826-1913) m. 1874, Christina Anne Jessica, daughter of the Rt Hon George Augustus Frederick Cavendish-Bentinck, MP, scion of the Dukes of Portland. Valentina Scrope is a twin daughter of Mr & Mrs David Barnfather.

Michael: you're correct in saying that Marianne's father was Marcus McCausland. Marcus lived at Drenagh, Co Londonderry, and was murdered by the IRA in Derry 1972.

Thomas Henry Weld, b. 30 June, 1943, scion of the Weld of Chideock BLG
family, eldest son of Edric Humphrey Weld (b. 1908-d.?), by his wife,
the late Maria Mercedes Herbert Henrietta (Mollie) Scrope, yr dau of
Henry Aloysius Scrope, JP, of the Scrope of Danby BLG family; died 16
May, 2005.

Kester Scrope is the son of Mr & Mrs John Scrope, of the ancient landed dynasty of that name, and Marianne is the daughter of the late Marcus McCausland and Mrs Peter Welsh. Kester's grandmother was Everilda Sykes, of the Sykes of Sledmere Baronets.

Marianne Scrope is a daughter of Capt. Marcus Edgcumbe McCausland (b. 1933; d. 1972), who was son of Lt-Col Conolly McCausland, MC, DL, JP, by his wife Lady Margaret Louisa Edgcumbe (b. 1912), daughter of the 6th Earl Mount Edgcumbe.

Maria Mercedes "Molly" Herbert Henrietta Weld (nee Scrope), who died 21January, 2007, at the age of 94 was a scion of the LG family of Scrope of Danby; b. 13 Sept, 1912, second daughter of Henry Aloysius Scrope (1862-1950), by his wife the former Maria Mercedes de Laski; married 15 Oct, 1940, Edric Humphrey Weld, scion of the LG family of Weld of Chideock, by whom she had issue.
The Requiem Mass takes place at Our Lady & St Benedict's Church, Ampleforth on Tuesday 30 January ....

North Yorkshire, died there, 7 March, 2010, aged 75. He was b 23 Dec
1934, son of Richard Ladislas Scrope by his wife the former Lady Jane
Egerton, daughter of the 4th Earl of Ellesmere (see Sutherland D);
married 23 Jul 1970, Jennifer Jane Parkinson, dau of Sir Kenneth
Parkinson, of Follifoot, North Yorkshire, by his wife the former Hon
Dorothy Lane-Fox, dau of the 1st and last Baron Bingley, and leaves
issue, (1) Simon Henry Richard (Harry) Scrope, b 1974, and (1) Emily
Scrope, b 24 May, 1972. He leaves grandchildren, of Alice and Tessa.
Private Funeral Mass at St Simon & Jude, Ulshaw. Service of
Thanksgiving will be announced at a later date.

Clementine Patience Priscilla Slade (nee Sheffield, b 11 Oct 1976), wife of Dominic Slade, gave birth to a daughter, Tatiana Virginia Marion, in London, 16 January, 2012/ Dominic is a son of Mr and Mrs Roger Haviland Slade, of Devon, and Clementine is a posthumous daughter of the late Mr John Mulgrave Sheffield (d 6 Sept, 1977), by his wife the former Virginia Ann Katherine (Ginny) Mitchell, elder daughter of Anthony Philip Mitchell (1919-2000) by his 1st wife Priscilla Mary Boldero. Ginny Mitchell married John
Sheffield in 1974. Mrs Sheffield married 2ndly, William James Conyers (Bill) Scrope (b. 1938 ) third son of Lt Col Adrian Scrope, of that landed family and descended from the Sykes of Sledmere Baronets, &c.

JACKAMAN Christa (nee Scrope) died at home on 6th February 2012.
Beloved wife to Nigel, adored mother of Claire, Mark and Richard and
devoted 'granny' to Annabel, Amber, Benedict, Sam and Max. Funeral at
St Catherine's Church, Drayton on Monday 13th February at 2.15pm. No
flowers. Donations to Great Ormond Street Hospital, London.

She was the d of Simon SCROPE (1910-91), scion of that famous gentry
family, and Constance Mary (1907-87) d of Everard Aloysius WELD, scion
of that gentry family of Chideock and of the viscounts DILLON, the
barons CLIFFORD OF CHUDLEIGH, STOURTON, and the WHITMORE Bts etc. She
m 1969 Nigel Victor Charles (b 1939), son of James Nigel JACKAMAN
(1906-97) and Diana Victor SAVORY (1913-2002), and had 2 sons and a
dau as above.
