Further information on the family of Brigadier Michael Frederick Morley, MBE (See Aykroyd family update)

Michael's father-in-law, Charles Gordon, was a racehorse owner (Source: Daily Telegraph, 6 Jan, 1998)

Michael's issue:-

(1) Michael Frederick David Morley, b. 17 Sept, 1939; according to the Times (4 Feb 1998) he married twice and his second wife was Melanie. But according to the Daily Telegraph 6 Jan, 1998, he married 3 times. The DT says he had 2 sons from his first marriage (to Jean Margaret Elizabeth Aykroyd), and *a young family* with his 3rd wife, Melanie. The Times says he married only twice, secondly in 1984 to Melanie, and by her has two daughters and a son. David Morley died from a heart attack, 5 January, 1998, aged 58. (2) Jonathan Derek (known as Jake) Morley, was b. 2 Oct, 1941, and educated at Eton, and Trinity College, Cambridge. He married 1stly, 1966, the Hon Kirsty Jane Aitken, dau of Sir Max Aitken, 2nd Bt (the disclaimed Baron Beaverbrook) by who he has 2 sons; Jake married 2ndly at Oxford Register Office, 21 Dec, 1981, Davina Mary Sheffield (b. 1951), yr dau of Maj George Berkeley Sheffield (1910-68) of the Sheffield Baronets, by his second wife, the former Hon. Agnes Wilson McGowan (d. 1976), daughter of the 1st Baron McGowan, and former wife of Maj Dermot Ralph Daly.

(ii) William Frederick Duncan Morley, b. 1984
(iii) Henry Quintus Morley, b. 1987.

(3)Miranda Morley, married 2000, as his second wife, the 11th Duke of Beaufort.

(4) Susan Morley, married 1970, as his second wife, Christopher John Spence, Chairman, English Trust Co Ltd 1991-2002. He was b. 4 June, 1937, son of Brig. Ian Fleming Morris Spence, OBE, MC, TD, ADC, and Ruth Peacock, and was educated at Marlborough; 2nd Lieut 10th Royal Hussars; married (1) 1960, Merle Aurelia (div 1968), dau of Sir Leonard Ropner, Baronet (one dau, and one son deceased). Susan and Christopher Spence have one son and one daughter. They live at Chieveley Manor, Newbury, Berks. Mr Spence was Senior Steward of the Jockey Club from 1998, and High Sheriff of Berkshire, 1996/7.
