Very Happy Does anyone know of the above mentioned person who was born 1742 and married Anna Elenora Krauch. He was the keeper of public records in Beuern Hessen Germany. I cannot understand why I cannot find him listed in peerage. He was not born with sir as a name. Some people say Anna was Elenora but it seems she preferred to drop Anna in favour of Elenora. I cannot find anything about Sir Henta except his father was Johann Henss wife Catharine.

Not someone I'm aware of, I'm afraid. Do you know how he came to be given the title? Was he part of an Order operating in Germany, eg. Knights of Malta? Was it an honorific given for public service?

Here's a list of the Orders from German Wiki - happy to translate if you need any help:

Smile In reply. I dont know how he came to get the title of Sir John jacob Hentz. He was the keeper of public records in Beuern Hesse so maybe he got it for public service. I dont know really. This is why I asked to see if anyone knew how he came to be a sir. Thanks for your reply.

I would appreciate any help with Germany Wiki as I have just started to learn German. If you could translate for me I would be most grateful. Thank you very much.

What is your original source, and what exact info does it give? Then we can decide where we need to look.

On Mamma search engine if you type in his name it comes up with two families that have him listed as sir. I dont know where they got their information from my husbnd also said it is the same on Google search with one family.

Your first step then should be to contact the owners of the site and see where they got their info from.

The paper continues on to the future of all his family and coming over here to America. Down the line a great grandaughter of his or maybe a great great as I am not sure, Elizabeth Hentz married a George Fogle in Berlin,Pa(A very small town and very cold in the winter Very Happy My moms maiden name is Fogle. I think www.cyndislist.com, www.freebmd.org.uk, www.genealogytoday.com/surname/finder will be useful to you to trace out the lines of ancestry you want.
