Looking for place in Scotland that Helen Evan Murray-Macgregor came from before her family arrived in Barbados. Married in West Indies in the 1870s to John Rochford Clinckett.

Hi, I assume Helen is a descendant (granddaughter?) of Sir Evan Murray Macgregor? I have seen an obit in The Times newspaper (24th Sep 1917)for a dau of Evan MM that states the dec'd, Amelia Georgina MM who died in her 89th year, was the youngest dau of Sir Evan Murray Macgregor of Macgregor, Bt KCB, who died whilst Governor of Barbados in 1841, and of Lady Elizabeth Murray the youngest dau of John, fourth Duke of Atholl.

I have seen a marriage for Evan MM and Elizabeth Murray on the LDS Family Search site in 1808. That entry plus several others for the surname Murray Magregor with the forename Evan suggest you need to look in Kilmadock, Perthshire.
