Prince Stefan Alexander Lamoral von Thurn und Taxis (son of Prince Lamoral Karl Johannes von Thurn und Taxis [himself the morganatic son of Prince Alexander von Thurn und Taxis and of his wife, née Marie Valerie Gräfin von Mazzuchelli] and of his former wife, née Dorothea Hornberg) died in early June 2005 under mysterious circumstances in a jail cell in Vienna, where he was facing charges relating to the alleged dealing of illegal drugs.

The engagement was announced between Prnce Alfonso von Thurn und Taxis (son of Prince Friedrich von Thurn und Taxis and of his wife, née Angela Tacoli) and Anna Andrea Gräfin von Trauttmansdorff-Weinsberg (daughter of Ferdinand Graf von Trauttmansdorff-Weinsberg and of his wife, née Margrit Gabriele Scholtz-Rautenstrauch). The wedding is to occur on 19 July 2008.
