The 6th Marquess of Aberdeen & Temair died 19 August, 2002, aged 82. Lord Aberdeen was fourth son of the 3rd Marquess. Two elder brothers succeeded to the family honours, and a third, Michael, was killed in action in Italy in 1943. The peer (he succeeded in 1984) married in 1950, Anne Barry, (b. 1924), a ceramic sculptor, daughter of Lt-Col. Gerald Barry, scion of the Barry Baronets, and a granddaughter maternally of the 6th Earl of Radnor. Lord Aberdeen's career: painter, and has exhibited botanical paintings in London, New York, Chicago and Sydney, &c. He served as a captain in the Scots Guards, 1939-45; Member International Assoc. of Art Critics; Bach Choir, 1939-82: he gave his recreations in Who's Who as *wine, women and song*. Lord Aberdeen was also a Braonet of Nova Scotia, Earl of Aberdeen and Earl of Haddo, Viscount Formartine, Lord Haddo, Methlic, Tarves & Kellie, & Viscount Gordon. The peerages now descend upon his son and heir, Alexander George Gordon, styled Earl of Haddo, b. 31 March, 1955, who is married with three sons and one daughter.

The Dowager Marchioness of Aberdeen & Temair, who died at Sutton Scotney, Hampshire, 26 April 2007, was the widow of the 6th Marquess of Aberdeen & Temair (1920-2002). She was born in 1924 as Anne Barry, scion of the Barry Baronets (cr 1899) daughter of Lieutenant-Colonel Gerald Barry, MC (1896-1977), by his wife Lady Margaret Pleydell-Bouverie (1903-2002), daughter of the 6th Earl of Radnor, CIE, CBE (1868-1930); married 1950, the then Lord Alastair Ninian John Gordon, a younger son of the 3rd Marquess of Aberdeen & Temair (1883-1972), and younger brother of the 4th Marquess (1908-74), & the 5th Marquess (1913-84). Her husband succeeded his brother in the family honours, 7 Sept 1984, and died 19 Aug 2002, She leaves issue, inc Alexander, 7th Marquess (b 31 Mar 1955).
