Have seen the write up on peerage and wikipedia of the aboves family, it states that he had a sister Mary Ann Russel who was wife of a John Rootes. father Francis mother Julian Foster.All information I have found relates that this john rootes would be a great grandfather of many times, but I cannot find a marriage for this couple(I have found many references to a John Roote being involved within the royal family employ etc).

I have found many tree's etc on ancestry etc stating that this John Roote married mary Ann but they only come up with a marriage in 1600 Badby Northamptonshire(no reason they should be there as do not think a child of Francis 2nd earl would have been their,marriage says John Roote & Ann Russel/Rushall) the family from this line went to ameria.(and this where they are baseing the tree's and family hearsay that their was a royal connection,(there is a Grave stone in America(ancestry) that mentions a John Roote & Mary ann Russel as grand parents) but cannot see that if the wife was Mary Ann russel that they would not have been a far richer family,here in england, do not wish to cast aspertions , but trying to find the correct information to the said John Rootes.
Their are grandchildren from a john roote, stephen & william in 1579 they were wards of Queen Elizabeth first, so assume that is why there were wards, the family connection. There is John Rootes a tenant in chief in sussex england with Gregory lord Dacre, john Rootes sold the manor to John Cage(all stated in 1625 in john Lord cages manor book.
I cannot even find a birth of Mary Ann Russell, any help appreciated on this family.
