Dear sir.
I am currently researching the history of Royal Naval College, Osborne & some of those who attended the college.

In searching records of those who entered I have come across the name of a cadet of whom I am trying to locate his ancestry.

His name is the Hon. Thomas H(ayward) Jolliffe.

He is listed as being accepted into the college in The Times (London)
Aug 04 1913, pg 10, Issue 40281, col c.

St. Vincent Term, September 1913.

I have searched Births, Deaths & Marriage & have found one (1) listing for the period he would need to have been born to join Osborne at this time due to age limits set by the Admiralty.

Born 1900, Births, Deaths & Marriages, Vol 5c, page 399.

His place of birth is listed as Frome in Wiltshire, whether this is the same person is not certain at this time.

In The Times listings he attended school at Wixenford, Wockingham under Mr. Morton.

Another boy who joined Osborne College at this time (Sept 1913) was the Hon. Mountjoy John Charles Wedderburn Fane, 3rd child of the 13th Earl of Westmorland & also attended the above school (Wixenford) with the aforementioned.

I believe the Hon. Thomas. H. Jolliffe is a possible unknown younger son of Hylton George Hylton Jolliffe, 3rd Baron Hylton & also the younger brother of William George Hervey
Jolliffe, 4th Baron Hylton.

Since no previous or later mention of him is to be found elsewhere, it is possible he died during WW1 as a midshipman (?) aboard a ship of the Royal Navy, I am currently trying to locate all those with this name in official RN records to confirm this.

If you would permit me, my question to you is have you come across this name before or heard of him or is he listed under another family?
I know you have a vast record & I have searched all possible connections without luck & hope you may be able to help me in this matter.

I understand that you would recieve hundreds of enquires and your time is valued, so I await your reply at your earliest convenience.

Thank you for any help you can lend me in this matter.

With regards,
Stuart Goodwin.
Melbourne,
Australia.
