Hi,

The entry for Charles FitzClarence states that he was decorated with the VC and bar. I think this should read VC only. Obviously, it is sometimes more difficult to prove something didn't happen than that it did! However, various websites give the names of the three people who received the VC and bar as: Arthur MARTIN-LEAKE, Noel CHAVASSE and Charles UPHAM.

The Times death notice for Charles FitzClarence (17th Nov 1914) lists him as "Brig.-Gen. Charles FitzClarence V.C." - no sign of the bar.

I have posted some other possible corrections on the General Discussion Forum - maybe they should have been on this one????

I see I am a baron already! How many levels are there??

Best Wishes

Sarah

I double checked my source, and I have no idea where the bar for the VC came from - I certainly agree with you. I remember reading that there was only 3 double holders of the VC, but for some reason I thought Charles was one of them.

Will be fixed shortly.

And just so you know, the 'levels' go all the way up to Emperor - keep up the good work with all of your posts, and eventually...

Regards
Darryl

Hi Darryl,

Thanks for your replies.

A way to go for "Emperor" then, if Michael Rhodes is "only" a King!!!! Maybe I need to "marry up" like Mrs Parker-Bowles??

Best Wishes

Sarah
