Valerie Wellesley
The Hon. Valerie Wellesley (nee Pitman), died 7th August 2009, aged 69
years, following a brave fight against cancer, will be sadly missed by
her sons Henry and Richie. Funeral at Canford Crematorium, Bristol BS9
3PQ, on Monday 17th August 1.30pm. No flowers, donations if wished to
www.pennybrohncancercare.org.

Valerie Wellesley was the fourth wife of the Hon. Henry Gerald
Valerian Francis Wellesley (1907-1981), son of the 3rd Earl Cowley and
his third wife the Hon. Millicent Florence Eleanor Wilson, herself
daughter of Charles Henry Wilson, 1st Baron Nunburnholme and Florence
Jane Helen Wellesley.

(Florence was the daughter of Colonel William Wellesley, son of the
Hon. Rev. Gerald Valerian Wellesley, son of Garret Wesley, 1st Earl of
Mornington, who was the father of the 1st Duke of Wellington and of
Henry Wellesley, 1st Baron Cowley).

From the Times of 1 November 2011:

COWLEY Lady Janet Mary Elizabeth [*] (Dowager Countess of Cowley) on
25th October 2011. Sister of Robert Aiyar and family of Ruthin and
Margaret Nichols and family of Fakenham, Norfolk. Funeral strictly
private.

She was the dau of Ramiah Doraswamy AIYAR FRCS (1893-1986) of Ystrad, Denbigh, North Wales and Glenys Mary PUGH (1907-91). She m 1st 1961 (as his 3rd w) the 5th Earl COWLEY (1921-68); she m 2nd 1976 (div 1981) Piers (Pierson John Shirley) son of Sir Pierson John DIXON GCMG CB (1904-65) and Alexandra Ismene dau of Shirley Clifford ATCHLEY CMG OBE Knight of the Hellenic Order of the Redeemer (1871-1926). No issue.

_The marriage took place in London, 15 February, 2012, between Garret Graham Wellesley, 7th Earl Cowley (b 30 July, 1934), son of the late 4th Earl Cowley (1890-1962), by his 2nd wife Mary, & Mrs Carola Marion Stormonth Darling (born 1943, nee Erskine-Hill).

Mrs Stormonth Darling, the peer's fourth spouse, is the widow of Capt Robin Andrew Stormonth Darling (1926-2009), of that landed family, & dau of Sir Robert Erskine-Hill, 2nd Baronet.
