Maija-Liisa Vane-Tempest (nee Puomi) who was born 1 Oct, 1930; died 11 June, 2005.

She was the second wife, from 1957, of Charles Stewart M'Donnell Vane-Tempest (b. 1921), scion of the Marquesses of Londonderry, descended from the 3rd Marquess. She was a daughter of Colonel Erkki Elias Puomi. She leaves issue.

George Robert Macdonald and India Jane Romaine Birley (b. 1961), have had a son, Eben John Rapid Marcus Macdonald, born 20 May, 2005, at St Mary's Hospital, Paddington.

The father is a Canadian teacher; the mother is a daughter of Marcus Oswald Hornby Lecky Birley (of that BLG family), by his first wife, the former Lady Annabel Vane-Tempest-Stewart (b. 1934) (later Lady Annabel Goldsmith), daughter of the 8th Marquess of Londonderry.

The infant is India's first child. She married (i) 1981 (div 1988) Jonathan Halsey Luke Colchester; married (ii) at Chelsea Register Office, Oct 1993, Francis Bruce Pike, son of Esmund Francis Victor Wallace Pike. She remains married to Mr Pike, but the child has taken Mr Macdonald's surname.

India Pike is a half-sister of Jemima Khan, &c.

The marriage took place 26 October, 2006, at Richmond Register Office, Surrey, between Robin Birley, scion of that BLG family, son of Marcus Lecky Oswald Hornby Birley (b. 1930), by his former wife, the former Lady Annabel Vane-Tempest-Stewart, daughter of the 8th Marquess of Londonderry (now Lady Annabel Goldsmith), & Mrs Lucy Margaret Mary Ferry, former wife of the pop star Bryan Ferry, and only daughter of Mr Patrick Helmore and Mrs Mary Helmore.

Lady Reginald Vane-Tempest-Stewart, wife of Lord Reginald Alexander Vane-Tempest-Stewart (b. 1977), gave birth to a daughter, Amy Romaine, 19 February, 2007, a sister for Robin Gabriel, who was b. 29 May, 2004.

Lord Reginald is the younger son of the 9th Marquess of Londonderry and of Doreen Marchioness of Londonderry (Doreen Wells, the ballerina), & Lady Reginald is the former Chloe B. Guinness, only daughter of Mr William Loel Seymour Guinness (b. 1939) and Mrs (Agnes Elizabeth) Lynn Guinness (nee Day).

Lady Reginald is a granddaughter paternally of Group Capt (Thomas) Loel Evelyn Bulkeley Guinness, OBE, (d. 1988), and of the former Lady Isabel Violet Kathleen Manners, daughter of the 9th Duke of Rutland.

Mark Oswald Hornby Lecky Birley, who died 24 Aug 2007, aged 77, was
the founder and owner of Annabel's, the grandest and most celebrated
London nightclub of the late 20th century; with his other
establishments, notably Mark's Club and Harry's Bar, it became
synonymous with sophistication, exclusivity, daunting good taste and
unapologetic snobbery. He was b 30 May 1930, son of Sir Oswald Birley,
the society portrait painter, by his wife Rhoda Pike (LG of Ireland);
he married, 1954, Lady Annabel Vane-Tempest-Stewart, daughter of the
8th Marquess of Londonderry, but from the late 1960s she was the
companion of Sir James Goldsmith, once a friend of Birley's, and the
Birleys divorced in 1975. Mr Birley is survived by a son Robin, who
last year married Lucy Ferry, former wife of the singer Bryan Ferry,
and by his daughter India Jane, a painter. His other son, Rupert,
disappeared in Togo, west Africa, in 1986. His body was never found.

A new daughter born to Lord Reginald Vane-Tempest-Stewart, younger son
of the Marquess of Londonderry and his second wife Doreen, nee Wells,
and Lady Reginald, nee Guinness, daughter of William Loel Guinness
and niece of Lindy Guinness, otherwise the Marchioness of Dufferin and
Ava.

The couple also have a son, Robin Gabriel, born in 2004.

Lady Mairi Bury, nee Vane-Tempest-Stewart, last surviving daughter of the 7th Marquess of Londonderry, KG, MVO, TD, and Edith, Marchioness of Londonderry, died at Mount Stuart, 16 Nov 2009.

Lady Mairi Bury, 87, was married in 1940 to Derek William Charles Keppel, Viscount Bury (1911-1968), eldest son of Walter Keppel, 9th Earl of Albemarle. They were divorced in 1958.

Lady Mairi lived at Mount Stewart, near Newtownards in County Down, Northern Ireland throughout her life. Mount Stewart is now a property of the National Trust. Her nephew is the 9th and present marquess. Lady Mairi's niece is Lady Annabel Goldsmith.

Charlotte Jane Vane-Tempest (nee Oddie), wife of James Alexander Stewart Vane-Tempest (b 1981), scion of the Marquesses of Londonderry, gave birth to a son, George Frederick Stewart, 4 June, 2010. James Vane-Tempest is a son of (Charles) Stewart Martin Vane-Tempest (b 1950) , of Steeple Bumpstead, Suffolk, by his second wife, the former Jillian Barbara Bulow, and Charlotte is the elder daughter of Mr and Mrs Simon Oddie, of Little Milton, Oxfordshire. The infant descends from Lord Ernest Vane-Tempest, fourth son of the 3rd Marquess of Londonderry.

The Marquess of Londonderry (Peerage of Ireland, cr 1816), unconventional aristocrat, died, 20 June, 2012. He was 74. Alexander Charles Robert Vane-Tempest-Stewart, was the 9th Marquess; also Baron Londonderry, 1789; Viscount Castlereagh, 1795; Earl of Londonderry, 1796; Baron Stewart, 1814; and Earl Vane and Viscount Seaham, cr 1823; he was born 7 Sept, 1937, son of the 8th Marquess by his wife Romaine (who d 1951), dau of Maj Boyce Combe; succeeded to the peerages on the demise of his father, 17 Oct 1955; married 1stly, 1958, Nicolette (div 1971, and she married 2ndly, Georgie Fame, the singer, & d 1993), dau of Michael Harrison, by who he had 2 daughters; married 2ndly, 1972 (div 1989), Doreen Patricia Wells, the ballerina, by whom he had 2 sons. The elder son, Frederick Aubrey Vane-Tempest-Stewart, styled Viscount Castlereagh, born 6 Sept, 1972, inherits the family honours.
