Natasha Compton [nee Somers] wife of James William Compton [b. 1974], gave birth to a daughter, Genevieve Maria Lucy, 21 June, 2004, a sister for Abigail Frances Marlene, who was b. 29 October, 2002. The Comptons married at Castle Ashby, 26 August, 2000.

Mr Compton is the only son of Lord William James Bingham Compton, and the late Lady William Compton, and grandson of the late 6th Marquess of Northampton, and Mrs C is the elder daughter of Mr Richard Somers, and Mrs Maria Somers.

The engagement was announced, 27 Apr, 2006, between Giles B.N. Cardozo, son of Lieutenant-Colonel and Mrs Benedict Cardozo, of Motcombe, Dorset, & Chloe M. Scott Bolton, daughter of Mr & Mrs Timothy Scott Bolton, of Summerleaze, Wiltshire.

Countess Compton, (nee Lucy Cardozo), wife Daniel Bingham Compton, styled
Earl Compton, son and heir of the 7th Marquess of Northampton, gave
birth to a daughter, Lady Theodora Virginia Lucy Compton, 19 August,
2003. The Earl & Countess were presented with their first daughter on
26 March, 2002. Lady Compton is the 5th daughter of Lt-Col. Benedict Cardozo (see above).

Martha Virginia Allfrey (nee Swire, b. 1972), wife of Alexander Allfrey, gave birth to a fourth son, Frank Peter, 28 Dec 2006, a brother for Jack (b. ?), and for William Jude, b. 8 Apr 2001, and for Stanley Adrian, who was b. 3 June 2004. Martha is the only daughter of Sir Adrian Christopher Swire, Kt (b. 1932), scion of that Landed Gentry family, by his wife, Lady Judith Compton (b. 1943), daughter of the 5th Marquess of Northampton.

Lord William James Bingham Compton. b 1947, yr son of the 6th Marquess of Northampton (1885-1978), by his 2nd wife Virginia; m 1973 (now deceased), Marlene, dau of the late Francis Hosie, by whom he had one son and 1 dau, m 2ndly, Sarah ?; he died 17 July, 2007, aged 59. He
leaves a son, from the 1st marriage, James Wm, and a daughter from the
1st marriage, Clare Victoria Frances, and grandchildren, Abigail, Gigi
and Eleonor and step-children Lucy, Emily and Harry.

Richard Clephane Compton (b. 1957), of Newby Hall, Ripon, North Yorks, scion of the Marquesses of Northampton, has been appointed a Deputy Lieutenant for North Yorkshire.

The engagement was announced 24 Aug 1989, and the marriage later took place, between James Compton, elder son of Mr & Mrs Robin Compton, of Newby Hall, scion of the Marquesses of Northampton, and Lady Tania Meade, dau of the Earl and Countess of Clanwilliam, of Tisbury. (Daily Tel. 24 Aug 1989)

Robert Edward John (Robin) Compton, DL, sometime squire of Newby Hall, near Ripon, North Yorkshire, scion of the Marquesses of Northampton, died 14 Nov 2009, at the age of 87. He was born 11 Jul 1922, son of Edward Robert Francis Compton (1891-1977), A godson of King Edward VII, of Newby Hall, by his 1st wife the former Sylvia Farquharson (of Invercauld).

His elder brother, Alwyne (b 1 May 1919) succeeded as chief of the clan Farquharson of Invercauld and assumed that surname. Robin Compton was educ at Eton; served as Maj Coldstream Guards; was High Sheriff of North Yorks, 1978; married 5 Jul 1951, Ursula Jane Kenyon-Slaney (b 1920), scion of the Barons Kenyon, former wife of (i) Lt-Col David Lindsay, scion of the Earls of Crawford & Balcarres, and (ii) Sir John William Maxwell (Max) Aitken, 2nd Baronet (the disclaimed 2nd Baron Beaverbrook). He leaves issue, (i) James Alwyn Compton, b 11 May, 1953 (heir to the clan chieftainship of Farquharson of Invercauld), married to Lady Tania Frances Meade, a dau of the Earl of Clanwilliam, & (ii) Richard Clephane Compton, b 18 Apr 1957, who succeeded to the Newby estate, married to Ursula Hohler, of that LG family.

Serge BOISSEVAIN
Serge Alexander, passed away in Almaden de la Plata (Sevilla, Spain),
on 3rd January 2011. Married to Henriette L. M. Boissevain (Baroness
Bentinck Van Schoonheten; Thyseen-Bornemisza). Survived by his loving
children, Katia, Amber and Daniel.

Bentinck, sometime Netherlands Ambassador to France, and married
1stly, 1967 (div 1973), Spencer Douglas David Compton, Earl Compton
(later 7th Marquess of Northampton), by whom she had a son, Daniel
Bingham Compton, styled Earl Compton (born 1973) and a daughter, Lady
Lara Katrina Compton (b 1968). She later married Richard Thompson and
then Serge Boissevain. She had 2 further children, Ambre (Boissevain)
and Katia (?).

Ursula Jane (Janey) Compton, who died 7 April, 2012, aged 92, was chatelaine of Newby Hall, near Ripon, North Yorkshire

She was born 15 January, 1920 as Jane Kenyon-Slaney, a scion of the Barons Kenyon, daughter of Maj Robert Orlando Rodolph Kenyon-Slaney (1892-1965) by his first wife the former Lady Mary Cecilia Rhodesia Hamilton (d 1984), daughter of the 3rd Duke of Abercorn.

She was thrice wed, firstly in 1940 (divorced 1946) to Lt-Col David Ludovic Peter Lindsay, DSO (1900-71), scion of the Earls of Crawford & Balcarres; secondly, in 1946, as his 2nd wife (div 1950), Group Capt Max Aitken, DSO (afterwards Sir Max Aitken, the disclaimed 2nd Baron Beaverbrook, who d 1985); and thirdly, in 1951, to Robert Edward John (Robin) Compton (1922-2009), scion of the Marquesses of Northampton. She leaves two daughters from her marriage to Sir Max Aitken, and two sons from her marriage to Robin Compton. The elder son James is heir to the Farquharson of Invercauld clan chieftainship, and the younger Richard, is squire of Newby Hall.
