     Major Hubert Francis Crichton was born on 17 December 1874.1 He was the son of Colonel Hon. Charles Frederick Crichton and Lady Madeline Olivia Susan Taylour.2 He married Esther Eliza Sanderson, daughter of Llewellyn Traherne Bassett Sanderson and Lady Rachel Mary Scott, on 14 July 1903.1 He died on 1 September 1914 at age 39, killed in action.1
     Major Hubert Francis Crichton gained the rank of Nile Expedition in 1898.1 He fought in the Boer War in 1902, with the Imperial Yeomanry.1 He fought in the First World War in 1914.1 He gained the rank of Major in the service of the Irish Guards.1
