     Andrew Coats was born on 27 May 1862.1 He was the son of Thomas Coats and Margaret Glen.1 He married Isabella Alice Lyon, daughter of Captain G. F. Lyon, on 28 July 1903.1 He died on 17 February 1930 at age 67.1
     Andrew Coats fought in the Boer War between 1899 and 1901, with the Glasgow Yeomanry.1 He was decorated with the Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.).1

     Janet Coats was born on 15 February 1844.1 She was the daughter of Thomas Coats and Margaret Glen.1 She married James Tait Black in 1884.1 She died on 15 November 1918 at age 74.1
     From 1884, her married name became Black.1
