     Edward Acton Brooke was born on 6 July 1918 at Johannesburg, Transvaal, South AfricaG.1 He was the son of Reginald William Acton Brooke and Lulu Hendrik Lodewyk Jense van Nieuwenhuis.1 He married, firstly, Joyce Revington on 18 December 1945 at Cape Town, Cape Province, South AfricaG.1 He married, secondly, Joan Elizabeth Coetzer on 5 April 1958 at Cape Town, Cape Province, South AfricaG.1 He died on 2 July 2006 at age 87 at Canberra, A.C.T., AustraliaG.1
     He fought in the Second World War.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the 6th South African Armoured Car Regiment.1 He was an architect at Port Moresby, Papua New GuineaG.1
