      From 9 July 1936, her married name became Porter.

     Captain Cuthbert Avenal John Vernon was the son of Colonel Edward Venables Vernon.2 He married Margaret Porter, daughter of Sir Andrew Marshall Porter, 1st Bt. and Agnes Adinston Horsbrugh, on 28 August 1905.1 He died in 1944.1
     He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the Irish Guards.1 He was decorated with the award of the Military Cross (M.C.).1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.).1
