     Nicholas Barnewall, 1st Viscount Barnewall of Kingsland was born in 1592.1 He was the son of Sir Patrick Barnewall and Mary Bagenal.1 He married Lady Bridget FitzGerald, daughter of Henry FitzGerald, 2nd/12th Earl of Kildare and Lady Frances Howard, before 7 July 1617.2 He died on 20 August 1663 at Turvey, County Dublin, IrelandG.1 He was buried on 3 September 1663 at Church of Luske, LuskeG.2 His will was proven (by probate) on 11 September 1663.2
     He was Roman Catholic.2 He was educated in December 1600 at Douai School, Upper Woolhampton, Reading, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for County Dublin between 1634 and 1635.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for County Dublin between 1639 and 1646.1 He was created 1st Baron Turvey [Ireland] on 29 June 1646.1 He was created 1st Viscount Barnewall of Kingsland, in the parish of Donabate, co. Dublin [Ireland] on 29 June 1646.1 In June 1654 he was in prison, charged with complicity in a plot against the Lord Protector, and so his property was sequestered, restored later in 1660.1
