     He was educated at Beaumont College, Old Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He fought in the First World War between 1914 and 1918.1 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.) in 1918.1 He fought in the Second World War between 1939 and 1945, where he was mentioned in despatches twice.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1940.1
