     John fitz John Barry, 1st Viscount Barry was born circa 1517.1 He was the son of John fitz John Barry, 13th Lord Barry and Ellen fitz Gibbon.1 He married, firstly, Ellen Roche, daughter of Maurice Roche, 4th Viscount Roche of Fermoy.1 He married, secondly, unknown FitzGerald, daughter of Gerald Fitz John FitzGerald.2 He died between May 1553 and November 1553, without issue.1
     John fitz John Barry, 1st Viscount Barry also went by the nick-name of John Bowleragh (or in English, fostered by the Bowlers).1 He succeeded to the title of 14th Lord Barry [I., c. 1261] circa 1534.1 He was created 1st Viscount Barry [Ireland] in June 1541.1 In 1542 he entered into an indenture of allegiance with the Lord Deputy [Ireland].1
