     William Thynne was the son of Ralph Botevile and Ann Higgons.1 He married, secondly, Anne Bond, daughter of William Bond.2 He died on 10 August 1546.2 He was buried at All Hallows, Barking, England.2 His will (dated 16 November 1540) was probated on 7 September 1546.2
     He was also known as William Botevile.2 In 1542 he collected and published the works of Chaucer with notes.1 He held the office of Master of the Household to King Henry VIII.1 He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.2
