     Captain Ernest Kennaway Arbuthnot was born on 3 September 1876.1 He was the son of Major Archibald Ernest Arbuthnot and Anne Elizabeth Ball.1 He married, firstly, Edith Elizabeth Greene, daughter of Richard Bentley Greene, on 1 June 1910.1 He married, secondly, Gladys Mann, daughter of William Butland Mann, on 15 January 1920.1 He died on 12 June 1945 at age 68.1
     Captain Ernest Kennaway Arbuthnot fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches four times.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the Royal Navy.1 He was decorated with the Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1917.1 He held the office of Chief Constable of Oxfordshire in 1921.1
