Sir Anthony Ashley, 1st and last Bt. was born circa 1542.2 He was the son of Anthony Ashley and Dorothy Lyte.1 He married, secondly, Philippa Weston.2 He married, firstly, Jane Okeover, daughter of Philip Okeover and Margaret Dethick, after 1587.2 He died on 13 January 1627/28, without male issue.1 His will (dated 22 August 1625) was probated on 1 February 1627/28.2
Sir Anthony Ashley, 1st and last Bt. held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Tavistock from 1588 to 1589.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Old Sarum from 1593 to 1594.2 He held the office of Clerk of the Privy Council.2 He held the office of Secretary to the Council of War.2 He was invested as a Knight in June 1596 at Cadiz, Spain.2 He held the office of Sheriff of Dorset from 1619 to 1620.2 He was created 1st Baronet Ashley, of St. Giles', Wimborn, co. Dorset [England] on 3 July 1623.1
On his death, his baronetcy became extinct.2
