     Alexander Baird was the son of Sir William Baird of Newbyth, 1st Bt. and Helen Gilmour.1 He married, firstly, Ann Wauchope, daughter of unknown Wauchope of Niddry.1 He married, secondly, Margaret Hamilton, daughter of John Hamilton of Biel, 3rd Lord Belhaven and Stenton and Anne Bruce, before 1743.1 He died in 1743, without issue.1
