     James Anstruther Maxtone Graham, 17th of Cultoquhey was born on 10 May 1924.1 He was the son of Anthony James Oliphant Maxtone Graham, 16th of Coltoquhey and Joyce Anstruther.1 He married, firstly, Diana Evelyn Magregor, daughter of Thomas Lowe Magregor, on 5 September 1953.2 He and Diana Evelyn Magregor were divorced in 1972.1 He married, secondly, Diana Irene Pilcher in 1972.1 He and Diana Irene Pilcher were divorced in 1976.1 He died on 22 November 2001 at age 77.1
     James Anstruther Maxtone Graham, 17th of Cultoquhey was educated at Eton College, Eton, Berkshire, England.1 He was educated at Gordonstoun School, Elgin, Morayshire, Scotland.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in 1942 in the service of the Scots Guards.2 He fought in the Second World War between 1942 and 1945.2 He was educated at West Scotland Agricultural College, Scotland.2
