     William Bell was born in 1784.1 He was the son of Benjamin Bell of Blackethouse and Grizel Hamilton.1 He married Margaret Jane Craigie, daughter of John Craigie of Glendoick, in September 1809.1 He died on 19 June 1849.1
     He held the office of Writer to the Signet (W.S.) in 1807.1 He was a Crown Agent.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) for the City and County of Edinburgh.1
     He had four other daughters, all of whom died unmarried.1

     Margaret Jane Craigie is the daughter of John Craigie of Glendoick.1 She married William Bell, son of Benjamin Bell of Blackethouse and Grizel Hamilton, in September 1809.1
     From September 1809, her married name became Bell.1

     William Hamilton Bell was born on 27 February 1817.1 He was the son of William Bell and Margaret Jane Craigie.1 He married Barbara MacLaurin Monteath, daughter of Alexander Monteath of Duchally.1 He died on 2 April 1890 at age 73.1
     He held the office of Circuit Clerk of the Justiciary.1
