     Lt.-Col. Hope Biddulph was born on 27 October 1866.1 He was the son of General Sir Robert Biddulph and Sophia Lambert.1 He married, firstly, Mabel Gordon Urquhart, daughter of William Henry Urquhart of Cromarty, in 1889.1 He and Mabel Gordon Urquhart were divorced in 1910.1 He married, secondly, Mabel Alice Holmes, daughter of Colonel T. Edmonds Holmes, in 1911.1 He died on 4 March 1940 at age 73.1
     Lt.-Col. Hope Biddulph fought in the First World War.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the service of the Royal Field Artillery.1 He was decorated with the award of Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1918.1
