     Major Thomas Edward Brodie Howarth was born on 21 October 1914.1 He was the son of Frank Fielding Howarth.1 He married Margaret Teakle, daughter of Norman Teakle. He died on 6 May 1988 at age 73 at London, England.2
     He was an assistant master between 1938 and 1939 at Winchester College, Winchester, Hampshire, EnglandG.1 He fought in the Second World War between 1944 and 1945, in North-West Europe.1 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.) in 1945.1 He was the headmaster between 1948 and 1952 at King Edward's School, Birmingham, Warwickshire, EnglandG.1 He was second master between 1952 and 1962 at Winchester College, Winchester, Hampshire, EnglandG.1 He was awarded the Territorial Decoration (T.D.) in 1953.1 He was High Master in 1962 at St. Paul's School, London, EnglandG.1

     Derek Foster, Baron Foster of Bishop Auckland was born on 25 June 1937.1 He was the son of Joseph Foster and Ethel Maud (?)1 He married Ethel Ragg in 1956.2 He and Ethel Ragg were divorced in 1970.2 He married Florence Anne Bulmer in 1972.1 He died on 6 January 2019 at age 81.3
     He was educated at St. Catherine's College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Labour) for Bishop Auckland between 1979 and 2005.1 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1983.1 He held the office of Parliamentary Private Secretary between 1983 and 1985, to the Leader of the Opposition.1 He held the office of Opposition Chief Whip between 1985 and 1995.1 He was created Baron Foster of Bishop Auckland, of Bishop Auckland in the County of Durham [U.K. Life Peer] on 16 June 2005.4
     He has three sons and one daughter.1
