Mavis Millicent Blucher is the daughter of Adolph Leslie Blucher and Louise Elizabeth Hagar Quintal.1 She married Gilbert Hitch in 1973 at Norfolk Island.1
She wrote the book Ghosts of Norfolk Island. From 1973, her married name became Hitch.1 'I am a descendant of the Bounty mutineers ... and the Tahitian women. Their heritage is worth saving.' She teaches the Tahitian 'Tamoure', a hip-swinging traditional dance. 'I don't think any Norfolk girls have been to Tahiti, but whenever they hear the music, they get lost in it. When I'm teaching a pupil for the first time, you turn the music on and it does something to them.1'

Gilbert Hitch was born on 20 September 1928 at Perth, Western Australia, Australia.1 He married Mavis Millicent Blucher, daughter of Adolph Leslie Blucher and Louise Elizabeth Hagar Quintal, in 1973 at Norfolk Island.1 He died on 17 October 1994 at age 66 at Norfolk Island.1
He wrote the book The Pacific War on Norfolk Island.1 He joined the Navy, and then entered Teachers College, later joining the Commonwealth Department of Territories at Canberra. He married and had 4 children, then married Mavis after his wife's death. He served as Deputy Registrar of Lands, Companies, and Births, Deaths, & Marriages; Deputy Coroner; Clerk of the Courts; Deputy Administrator; Revenue Manager; Collector of Customs Philatelic Bureau; and Mgr & Chairman of the Norfolk Island Museum Trust & Historical Society.
