Kari Boye was born in 1944 at Norway. She married Brian Michael John Young, son of Samuel Carlyle Young and Vula Valma Warren, on 17 May 1978 at Pitcairn Island.1
From 17 May 1978, her married name became Young.1 She wrote the book Den Siste Mytterist, published 1981. She lived in 1993 at Pitcairn Island.2
As a girl in Norway, Kari studied to be a radio operator, and went to sea. She was fascinated by the 'Mutiny on the Bounty' when she read it at the age of 12 or 13. 'It was so far away from Norway and the school drag. We always identified William Bligh with our teacher at school ... and all the girls wanted to play Fletcher Christian.' She was determined to see Pitcairn, and
applied for permission which took 3 years. The island council had agreed
right away, but the Pitcairn Governor, at Fiji, wouldn't.3
