     Elsie Violet Redding gained the rank of officer in 1942 in the service of the Women's Royal Naval Service.1 She was decorated with the Royal Naval and Royal Marine Forces Reserve Decoration (R.D.).1 From 19 May 1967, her married name became Baring.1
