     Michael Ian Vansittart Bowater was born on 26 November 1934.1 He is the son of Lt.-Col. Sir Ian Frank Bowater and Hon. Ursula Margaret Dawson.1 He married Camilla Caroline Straight, daughter of A/Cdre. Whitney Willard Straight and Lady Daphne Margarita Finch-Hatton, on 22 June 1960.1
     Michael Ian Vansittart Bowater was educated at Eton College, Eton, Berkshire, England.1 He was educated at Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England.1 He gained the rank of Major in the service of the Scots Guards.1 He was head of communications for Bowater Group.1 He lived in 2003 at 16 Rocky Point Road, Rowayton, Connecticut, U.S.A..1
