Major Basil Gerald Brooke was born on 10 March 1894.1 He was the son of Sir George Frederick Brooke, 1st Bt. and Emily Alma Barton.1 He married Essex Vere Gunning, daughter of Brig.-Gen. Sir Charles Vere Gunning, 7th Bt., on 23 September 1919.1 He died on 12 September 1969 at age 75.1
