     Major Basil Gerald Brooke was born on 10 March 1894.1 He was the son of Sir George Frederick Brooke, 1st Bt. and Emily Alma Barton.1 He married Essex Vere Gunning, daughter of Brig.-Gen. Sir Charles Vere Gunning, 7th Bt. and Ethel Beatrice Finch-Hatton, on 23 September 1919.1 He died on 12 September 1969 at age 75.1
     He was educated at Winchester College, Winchester, Hampshire, EnglandG.1 He fought in the First World War.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the 17th Lancers.1 He fought in the Second World War.1 He gained the rank of Major in the Royal Pioneer Corps.1

     Brig.-Gen. Sir Charles Vere Gunning, 7th Bt. was born on 31 October 1859.2 He was the son of Sir George William Gunning, 5th Bt. and Isabella Mary Frances Charlotte Chester-Master.2 He married Ethel Beatrice Finch-Hatton, daughter of William Robert Finch-Hatton and Agnes Graham Oxenden, on 17 October 1888.2 He died on 29 January 1950 at age 90, without male issue.2
     He fought in the Boer War, where he was mentioned in despatches.2 He gained the rank of Captain in the 1st Battalion, Durham Light Infantry.2 He succeeded as the 7th Baronet Gunning, of Eltham, co. Kent [G.B., 1778] on 21 July 1906.2 He gained the rank of Major between 1914 and 1916 in the Reserve Offrs, Remount Staff.2 He was Temporary Brigadier-General of the Remount Command, Canada and North America between 1916 and 1919.2 He was appointed Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1917.2 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1918.2 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Northamptonshire.2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Northamptonshire.2 He gained the rank of Honorary Brigadier-General in 1927.2
