     Sir Richard Broun, 8th Bt. was born on 22 April 1801 at Lochmaben, Dumfries-shire, Scotland.1 He was the son of Sir James Broun of Mayfield, 7th Bt. and Marion Henderson.1 He died on 10 December 1858 at age 57 at Sphinx Lodge, Chelsea, London, England, unmarried.1
     He claimed the right to a knighthood prior to succeeding to his father's baronetcy, but the Lord Chancellor refused to present him to the Queen for this purpose.1 He succeeded to the title of 8th Baronet Broun, of Coulston, co. Haddington [N.S., 1686] on 30 November 1844.1 In 1849 he was the projector of 'the London Necropolis' at Woking.1

     Sir William Broun, 9th Bt. was born on 31 July 1804 at Lochmaben, Dumfries-shire, Scotland.1,2 He was the son of Sir James Broun of Mayfield, 7th Bt. and Marion Henderson.1 He married Elizabeth Smith, daughter of John Smith, on 18 July 1843 at Dumfries, Dumfries-shire, Scotland.1 He died on 10 June 1882 at age 77 at 7 Irving Street, Dumfries, Dumfries-shire, Scotland.1 He was buried at Lochmaben, Dumfries-shire, Scotland.1
     Sir William Broun, 9th Bt. was a practising solicitor at Dumfries, Dumfries-shire, Scotland.1 He succeeded to the title of 9th Baronet Broun, of Coulston, co. Haddington [N.S., 1686] on 10 December 1858.1

     Elizabeth Smith was the daughter of John Smith.1 She married Sir William Broun, 9th Bt., son of Sir James Broun of Mayfield, 7th Bt. and Marion Henderson, on 18 July 1843 at Dumfries, Dumfries-shire, Scotland.1 She died on 19 August 1899 at Glenshee, Cambridge Park, Twickenham, Middlesex, England.1 She was buried at Lochmaben, Dumfries-shire, Scotland.1
     From 18 July 1843, her married name became Broun.1

     Sir William Broun, 10th Bt. succeeded to the title of 10th Baronet Broun, of Coulston, co. Haddington [N.S., 1686] on 10 June 1882.1 He lived in 1903 at Somerton, New South Wales, Australia.1

     James Broun was born circa 1844.1 He was the son of Sir William Broun, 9th Bt. and Elizabeth Smith.1 He died on 31 January 1872, on board H.M.S. Jumna, unmarried.1
     James Broun gained the rank of officer in the service of the Royal Engineers.1

     Alice Jane Peters was the daughter of James Cornelius Peters and Elizabeth Chambers.1 She married Sir William Broun, 10th Bt., son of Sir William Broun, 9th Bt. and Elizabeth Smith, on 12 April 1871 at Sydney, New South Wales, Australia.1 She died in 1920.2
     From 12 April 1871, her married name became Broun.1
