     Major Francis James Johnston is the son of Francis Benjamin Johnston.2 He married Caroline Louise Wills, daughter of Sir Gerald Wills and Amy Mary Louise Peters, on 1 November 1952.2
     He gained the rank of Major in the service of the Coldstream Guards.2 He was dau of Captain John Hamilton and widow of Edmund Sharpe).2 He lived at Shamley Green, Surrey, England.1 Major Francis James Johnston usually went by his middle name of James.1 He was Coldstream Guards (ret) (married 2nd •Joan on 15 May 1976.2 He was senior editor of Burke's Peerage 1999 edition in 1999.1
