     Sir Charles Bruce-Gardner, 1st Bt. was born on 6 November 1887.1 He was the son of Henry Gardner and Florence Arliss. He married Gertrude Amy Shill, daughter of Charles Rivington Shill, on 1 February 1911.1 He died on 1 October 1960 at age 72.1
     Sir Charles Bruce-Gardner, 1st Bt. was baptised with the name of Charles Bruce Gardner.1 He was educated at St. Dunstan's College, London, England.1 He was educated at Battersea Technical College, Battersea, London, England.1 He was registered as a Member, Institution of Mechanical Engineers (M.I.Mech.E.).1 He was a director of John Summers & Sons between 1913 and 1920.1 He was vice-chairman of Crompton Parkinson Ltd.1 He was chairman of John Lysaght Group.1 He was deputy-chairman of The Steel Company of Wales.1 He was a director of Consett Iron Company and GKN.1 He was chairman of British Iron and Steel Corporation.1 On 21 December 1937 his name was legally changed to Charles Bruce-Gardner by deed poll.1 He was invested as a Knight in 1938.1 He was created 1st Baronet Bruce-Gardner, of Frilford, Berkshire [U.K.] on 12 February 1945.1 He was president of the Iron and Steel Institute.1

     Sir Douglas Bruce-Gardner, 2nd Bt. was born on 27 January 1917.1 He was the son of Sir Charles Bruce-Gardner, 1st Bt. and Gertrude Amy Shill.1 He married, firstly, Monica Flummerfelt Jefferson, daughter of Professor Sir Geoffrey Jefferson, on 27 July 1940.1 He and Monica Flummerfelt Jefferson were divorced in 1964.1 He married, secondly, Sheila Jane Stilliard, daughter of Roger Stilliard, on 18 March 1964.1 He died on 25 November 1997 at age 80.1
     Sir Douglas Bruce-Gardner, 2nd Bt. was educated at Uppingham School, Uppingham, Rutland, England.1 He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.).1 He was a director of Henry Gardner & Company between 1952 and 1968.1 He was a director of GKN between 1960 and 1982.1 He succeeded to the title of 2nd Baronet Bruce-Gardner, of Frilford, Berkshire [U.K., 1945] on 1 October 1960.1 He was president of the Iron and Steel Institute between 1966 and 1967.1
