Violet Hamilton was the daughter of Archibald Hamilton of Rosehall.1 She married, firstly, Sir Robert Stuart of Tillicoultry, 1st Bt., son of Sir James Stuart of Ardmaleish, 1st Bt. and Grizel Campbell, on 20 October 1685.1
From 20 October 1685, her married name became Stuart.1

Robert Stuart of Tillicoultry, 2nd Bt. was born circa 1700.1 He was the son of Sir Robert Stuart of Tillicoultry, 1st Bt. and Cecil Hamilton.2 He married Jean Calderwood, daughter of Sir William Calderwood, Lord Polton.1 He died on 4 March 1767, without issue.2
Robert Stuart of Tillicoultry, 2nd Bt. succeeded to the title of 2nd Baronet Stuart, of Tillicoultry, co. Clackmannanshire [N.S., 1707] on 1 October 1710.1
On his death, his baronetcy became dormant.2

Sir William Calderwood, Lord Polton was born circa 1660.2 He was the son of Alexander Calderwood.2 He died on 7 August 1733.2
Sir William Calderwood, Lord Polton was admitted to Advocate in July 1687.2 He was invested as a Knight before 1707.2 He was created Lord Polton [Scottish Law Lord] in 1711.2 He held the office of Lord of Session in 1711.3,2 He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.2
