     William Bayford Butler was born in 1888.1 He was the son of William Charles Butler and Emily Chadwick.2 He married Beatrice Mary Nancy Jackson, daughter of Colonel John Arthur Jackson, in 1918.1 He died on 30 August 1937.1
     William Bayford Butler fought in the First World War.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the 3rd Battalion, Border Regiment.1 He was decorated with the Military Cross (M.C.).1
