     Captain Edmund Barker Van Koughnet was the son of Hon. Philip Michael Scott Van Koughnet.2 He married Hon. Jane Charlotte Elizabeth Alexander, daughter of James Du Pre Alexander, 3rd Earl of Caledon and Lady Jane Frederica Harriot Mary Grimston, on 1 September 1887.1 He died on 27 March 1905, without issue.1
     Captain Edmund Barker Van Koughnet held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.).1 He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the Royal Navy.1 He was invested as a Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.).1
