     He gained the rank of Commander in the service of the Royal Navy.1

Jane Charlotte Elizabeth Alexander was born on 1 May 1850.1 She was the daughter of James Du Pre Alexander, 3rd Earl of Caledon and Lady Jane Frederica Harriot Mary Grimston.2 She married Captain Edmund Barker Van Koughnet, son of Hon. Philip Michael Scott Van Koughnet, on 1 September 1887.1 She died on 23 June 1941 at age 91.1
      From 1 September 1887, her married name became Van Koughnet.

     Captain Edmund Barker Van Koughnet was the son of Hon. Philip Michael Scott Van Koughnet.2 He married Hon. Jane Charlotte Elizabeth Alexander, daughter of James Du Pre Alexander, 3rd Earl of Caledon and Lady Jane Frederica Harriot Mary Grimston, on 1 September 1887.1 He died on 27 March 1905, without issue.1
     He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.).1 He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the Royal Navy.1 He was invested as a Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.).1
