     Sir John Callendar, 1st and last Bt. was born in September 1739.1 He was the son of Alexander Callendar and Margaret Ramsay.1 He married Margaret Romer, daughter of John Romer, on 2 February 1786.1 He died on 2 April 1812 at age 72, without issue.1
     Sir John Callendar, 1st and last Bt. held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Berwick-upon-Tweed between September 1795 and 1807.1 He was created 1st Baronet Callendar, of Westertown, co. Stirling [Great Britain] on 1 August 1798.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in the service of the British Army.1
     On his death, his baronetcy became extinct.1

     Margaret Romer was the daughter of John Romer.1 She married, firstly, Bridges Kearney before 1786.1 She married, secondly, Sir John Callendar, 1st and last Bt., son of Alexander Callendar and Margaret Ramsay, on 2 February 1786.1 She died on 22 September 1815.1
     From before 1786, her married name became Kearney.1 From 2 February 1786, her married name became Callendar.1
