     Sir Robert Patrick Malcolm Gower was born on 18 August 1887.1 He was the son of Erasmus Gower and Catherine Vans Agnew.1 He married, firstly, Nancy Barkley on 8 September 1913.1 He married, secondly, Helen Margaret Hawdon, daughter of F. G. Hawdon, on 14 March 1941.1 He died on 30 August 1964 at age 77.1
     Sir Robert Patrick Malcolm Gower usually went by his middle name of Patrick.1 He was educated at Emmanuel College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England.2 He was with the Inland Revenue Department between 1910 and 1917.2 He was Assistant Private Secretary to the Chancellor of the Exchequer between 1917 and 1919.2 He was Private Secretary to the Chancellor of the Exchequer and Lord Privy Seal between 1919 and 1922.2 He was invested as a Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1922.2 He was Private Secretary to the Prime Minister between 1922 and 1929, actually serving three successive Prime Ministers.2 He was invested as a Commander, Royal Victorian Order (C.V.O.) in 1923.2 He was invested as a Knight Commander, Order of the British Empire (K.B.E.) in 1924.2 He was Chief Publicity Officer, Conservative and Unionist Central Office between 1929 and 1939.2 He was chairman of Charles F. Higham Ltd, advertising agents between 1939 and 1956.2
