Sir William de Lindesay was the son of Walter de Lindesay.2 He married Aleanora (?), daughter of Gerard, Lord of Limesay and Amicia de Bidun, circa 1174.2 He died circa 1200.1
He was heir of Randolph de Lindesay, feudal lord of Northumbria.2 In 1164 he sat in Parliament [Scotland].2 In 1174 he was a hostage for King William.2 He held the office of Justiciar [Scotland] after 1174.2 He was feudal Lord of Crawford, but styled Baron of Luffness in Parliament.2

Sir Walter de Lindesay is the son of Gilbert de Ghent.1
He probably accompanied David, Earl of Huntingdon (later King David I) in his anglicizing of the Lowlands in the early 1100s.1 In 1116 he witnessed an inquisiton for the see of Glasgow.1
