     John Alexander Coats was born in 1892.1 He was the son of William Allan Coats and Agnes Bunten Muir.1 He married Audrey Gretchen Wilmot, daughter of Charles Wilmot, in September 1918.1 He died on 20 June 1932.1

     Vernon William Coats was born on 20 July 1919.1 He was the son of John Alexander Coats and Audrey Gretchen Wilmot.1 He married, firstly, Catherine Hinton, daughter of Captain H. V. Hinton, before 1948.1 He and Catherine Hinton were divorced in 1954.1 He married, secondly, Ethel Stephens, daughter of Captain F. R. Stephens, on 2 October 1954.1 He died on 17 August 1960 at age 41.1
     Vernon William Coats was educated at Eton College, Eton, Berkshire, England.1 He gained the rank of officer in the service of the Buckinghamshire Light Infantry and Scots Guards.1 He was educated at Christ Church College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.1 He fought in the Second World War between 1939 and 1945.1 He was a Member of the London Stock Exchange.1
