Mary Ambler was the daughter of Robert Ambler and Mary Thompson.2,1 She married William Makins, son of William Makins, in 1780.1 She died on 4 June 1837.1

William Thompson Thompson was born on 25 March 1785.1 He was the son of William Makins and Mary Ambler.2 He died on 10 December 1860 at age 75, unmarried.1

Charles Makins was born on 7 April 1797.1 He was the son of William Makins and Mary Ambler.2 He married Frances Kirkby, daughter of Thomas Kirkby, on 7 September 1837.1 He died on 8 August 1878 at age 81.1

Sir William Thomas Makins, 1st Bt. was born on 16 March 1840.1 He was the son of Charles Makins and Frances Kirkby.2 He married Elizabeth Simpson, daughter of Lightly Simpson, on 3 June 1861.1 He died on 2 February 1906 at age 65.1
Sir William Thomas Makins, 1st Bt. graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.).1 He was a practising barrister.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Conservative) for South Essex between 1874 and 1892.1 He was governor of the Gas Light and Coke Company.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Essex.1 He gained the rank of Honorary Colonel in the service of the 1st Essex Artillery, East Division, Royal Artillery Voluntary Brigade.1 He was deputy chairman of GER.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Oxfordshire.1 He was decorated with the Volunteer Officers' Decoration (V.D.).1 He held the office of Lieutenant of the City of London.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Essex.1 He was created 1st Baronet Makins, of Rotherfield Court, co. Oxford [U.K.] on 9 January 1903.1
