     He fought in the First World War.2 He gained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in the 1st/4th Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry.2

     He fought in the First World War.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the Grenadier Guards.2 He was awarded the Military Cross (M.C.) in 1919.2
