     Richard Albert Massy was born on 22 February 1840.1 He was the son of John Massy and Alicia Chadwick.1 He married Matilda Minchin, daughter of Captain George Minchin, on 21 April 1869.1 He died on 25 September 1889 at age 49.1
     He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the service of the 60th Rifles.1 He held the office of Resident Magistrate for County Kerry.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for County Leitrim.1
