     He held the office of Member of the Provincial Council [Canterbury].1 He was Deputy Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) [New Zealand].1 He lived at Purran, Rhodes Bay, Canterbury, New ZealandG.1 He lived at Elmwood, Christchurch, New ZealandG.1 He was founder of the New Zealand Shipping Company and the Kaiapoi Woollen Manufacturing Company.2
